Minimum accommodation standards

A rural stay does not need hotel-style luxury. It must meet a truthful, usable safety and hygiene baseline. Hosts must disclose limitations rather than hide them.

Required baseline

Not permitted

Do not list an unsafe structure, undisclosed shared sleeping area, inaccessible toilet, illegal occupancy, surveillance in a bedroom/bathroom, undisclosed animal or dangerous condition, or a place the host cannot lawfully offer.

Government and local requirements

Hosts remain responsible for applicable State or Union Territory tourism registration, local-body permission, police or guest-register duties, tax registration, food-safety requirements and any land-use, fire, building or environmental rule. Village Miles review does not replace a licence or government approval.

Verification and enforcement

Hosts submit photos or videos and factual disclosures. Listing review is document/content review, not a professional building inspection. Guests can report material differences during check-in. Village Miles may require correction, suspend a listing, preserve evidence or refer a matter to authorities; payment remedies require the final refund policy.
