Hosting standards
These standards apply to the primary Host, Co-hosts, and anyone delivering a listed service. A platform review never replaces a licence, registration, permission, tax duty, or safety obligation imposed by law.
Authority and local compliance
Before listing, the Host must have documented authority to offer the property and must identify and comply with the rules applicable in the property's State, Union Territory, district, municipality, panchayat, housing society, lease, land use, fire regime, police or foreign-guest reporting process, and any tourism or homestay scheme. Where State or local rules are stricter than Village Miles, the stricter lawful requirement applies.
Accurate, complete listing
Describe the actual stay, rooms, sleeping and bathroom arrangements, host presence, access, capacity, services, mandatory charges, limitations, hazards, house rules, and everyone expected to interact materially with guests. Media must be current and representative. A Host must correct a material change before accepting another request.
Reservation reliability
Keep availability current, respond within a reasonable time, honor accepted dates and recorded promises, and cancel promptly when performance becomes impossible. Never pressure a traveler to cancel on the Host's behalf, substitute another property or participant without informed agreement, or demand an undisclosed payment.
Cleanliness, safety, and readiness
Prepare the stay between guests; provide clean sleeping and sanitation arrangements; address known health, fire, electrical, structural, animal, water, food, transport, and security hazards; and give accurate check-in, emergency, nearest-care, and access information. Village Miles may demand evidence or pause a listing without waiting for repeated complaints when risk is credible.
People and services
Disclose each Co-host and service participant selected for a booking. Drivers, cooks, guides, caretakers, and other providers must be competent, lawful, and appropriately permitted. A Host remains responsible for promises made through the listing and for coordinating the people they engage, subject to applicable law.
Community impact
Respect neighbors, village institutions, sacred places, farms, water, wildlife, waste rules, quiet hours, photography boundaries, and community consent. Do not stage or exploit residents, children, tribal communities, crafts, ceremonies, or poverty for guest entertainment or marketing.
Platform integrity and enforcement
Keep mandatory communication and payments on Village Miles when those features are enabled. No fake reviews, duplicate accounts, hidden fees, retaliation, discrimination, evidence tampering, or circumvention. Responses may include correction, paused publication, cancelled reservations, payout hold, warning, suspension, removal, evidence preservation, and lawful reporting, with a reason and appeal opportunity where appropriate.
